No Show Fee Policy

Purpose: To ensure fair access to appointments and discourage non-attendance, Geographe Bay General Practice charges a fee when patients fail to attend their scheduled appointments without adequate notice.

Fee Structure:        

• Standard Appointment: $100

• Double Appointment: $150

• Note: These fees are not covered by Medicare.

Appointment Reminders:

• Patients are encouraged to record their appointment details at the time of booking.

• SMS reminders are sent via HotDoc, however these cannot be guaranteed due to potential system or internet outages.

Patient Responsibility:

• Patients must keep track of their appointments.

• If an appointment is no longer required, patients must cancel with at least four hours’ notice to allow this slot to be offered to another patient.

• Cancellations can be made via the Hot Doc App, or by calling the clinic on 9752 4688.

Consequences of Non-Attendance:

• The outstanding No Show fee must be paid before any new appointments can be booked.

Complaints Process:

• Complaints regarding No Show fees should be sent to admin@geographebaygp.com.au

• All complaints will be investigated and patients will receive a response via email indicating the outcome.

Rationale:

• Charging a no-show fee encourages accountability, reduces last-minute cancellations and ensures fairness to other patients who may have needed an appointment.
